Alan Bleay - Street beats

about

Piece based on boombox carried by Radio Raheem in the film Do the Right Thing from the National Museum of African American History and Culture (1989).

"I can still remember the feeling of wonder at being able to have a portable music system.

Being able to listen to loud music anywhere was revolutionary, this went hand in hand with the new direction that music took from the streets with rap.

You could hear it everywhere. This is my humble homage to that picture and the giant that this genre turned into."
