Laura Hills - Coffee, Mrs Philips?

about

The Philips Type HM3210 coffee grinder is quite a funky little machine. The one I've seen online is bright orange with a two-pin plug.60s cool. As a coffee drinker who enjoys the actual process of making coffee I imagined the pleasure of starting the process of making coffee with this cool little grinder but the perfect cup of coffee is elusive and things can go wrong.

To create the work I used most of the original recording but cut it up and used the tonality and some of the rhythm to respond to using the audio as well as virtual instruments. The beans sound is fabulous, the whirr of the coffee machine a bit more edgy. Though I was a bit late applying and got the last sound sample it was fun to work with.
