Max Stottrop - Floating above the noise (Cologne)

about

18 Feb, 09:06
Cologne Cathedral reimagined by Max Stottrop.

"My aim was to emulate the serene feeling that emerges when visiting an old church.

"Religious places are spaces where time can slow down, presenting the possibility of forgetting for a brief moment about the busyness of everyday life.

"Such retreats are evermore important in the otherwise noise-polluted cites.

"Regarding the process: I extracted the background noise, sped it up to generate a cohesive sound, and added a few synth elements to the mix, which slowly decay at the end of the recording.

"The bells, which were also present in the original recording function in a way to focus the audience and represents a supportive element."
