about

Street scene in Havana reimagined by Wahinya Mwirikia with D-Empress Evoke.

"The original sound is a recording of a street in Cuba and in the background one can hear a playful child and their guardian, a local band and indistinct voices. Even though it sounds noisy as streets usually are, it is a beautiful cacophony envisaging humanity.

The sounds took me to the hugging nature of the Andes mountains that inspired the guitar melody and in glueing a global city that works for humanity the bass acted as a rhythmic bridge and the percussions as a road that transports the vocals delivered by the amazing Dianne Evoke that took us into the transcendental world of insight; Ubuntu-Without You I Do Not Exist."
