Claire Pearson - Walking the path (Portugal)

from Music for Sleep by Cities and Memory

/

about

I love the sound of the wind through the trees, the rising and falling sweeps of air, the gusting swooping swirling sounds feel exciting but calming too. I find this strange contrast inspiring.

I made minimal changes to the original recording, modifying it only to maintain its meditative quality and mixed it to wide stereo to allow for the most immersive experience. I kept melodic phrases sparse and used layered spoken words to provide focus and texture.

Using the metaphor of walking a path, the narrators encourage the listener to cast aside their cares and let their imagination drift down a forest track, to be curious, relax and soak up the ambience and amble deeper along the forest path that leaves wakefulness far behind.
